Andrew Bartley began his formal training with Dr. Brendan Nguyen at the age of 15. During high school, he was a part of the school jazz band and also was the pianist their production of West Side Story. Shortly afterwards, he attended Northwestern University and studied under Dr. Sylvia Wang. At Northwestern, Andrew expanded his musical repertoire and grew a propensity for contemporary and new music, as well as turn of the century serial music.
Andrew was part of the Northwestern contemporary music ensemble, where he performed notable works by Steve Reich, David Lang, Georg Friederich Haas, and Ted Hearn. He has also premiered several works by student composers involving experimental and percussion techniques. Andrew has worked as an accompanist and a theatre performer, and has experience in both acting and musical direction.
