Plays Piano, Violin, and Viola

About

After eight years residing in the Pacific Northwest, Erin is excited to be back home in The Valley of the Sun. Her love of music began learning piano and the violin at age 8. She took up viola for a time, until opting to audition for the Phoenix Symphony Guild youth Group, “Symphonettes”, on the violin. By 8th grade, she had successfully auditioned to work with the now late Dr. William Magers of ASU and student himself, of the late Dr. Dorothy Delay, Juilliard.

Erin served as concert mistress under Dr. Temme Of Symphonettes, represented her school each year of high school in regionals and All State, and did so while performing with the Guild’s most senior group, the Phoenix Symphony Guild Youth Orchestra. The PSGYO was selected to tour Germany and later, 9 Eastern European countries, where she garnered some of the most enduring pedagogy and influence that she uses in her teaching today.

She began teaching her two sons piano and violin lessons, now 11 and 15 years old; and continued on with the neighbor children until word of mouth kept her busy for years to come! Her philosophy is that of “Miss DeLay’s”, which is to “teach the student, not the subject”. Erin is filled with gratitude for each opportunity to play a part, (be it large or small); in “paying forward” what she views as the gift of a lifetime, and one that was so graciously bestowed upon her…the gift of music! 🎼
