About

Oliver Hopkins is a teacher, composer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist currently living in Nashville, TN. A graduate of the Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University, Hopkins has taught privately for 15 years with specialities in guitar, piano, songwriting, music theory, notation standards, orchestration, classical guitar audition prep, and composition practices.

Hopkins studied with Dr. J. Peter Burkholder, Steven Snethkamp, Petar Jankovic, Nemanja Ostojic, and has participated in master classes lead by Matthew Tennant, the Assad Brothers, and Ernesto Bitetti.

Hopkins loves to break down musical concepts and patterns for students into simple, digestible building blocks that encourage the student’s curiosity and engagement. Hopkins is a huge advocate for writing music early, as it gives the student a deeper sense of ownership over their instrument and musical development.

When not teaching, Hopkins is composing, performing locally, touring, or producing songwriters in the greater Nashville area. He is eager to explore the craft of music alongside students of any level and believes that growth takes root best in a non-judgmental and harmonious environment.
