About

Russell Pinzino grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey, and began studying piano at the age of 5. His musical interests expanded to choir, band, and songwriting in elementary school, and he was involved in region and all-state choirs, school musicals, pit orchestras, a cappella groups, marching bands, and much more throughout grade school. In 2019, Russell graduated from Northwestern University where he studied with Kurt Hansen, and received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education. He has sung with several professional ensembles over the years, including Chicago Opera Theater, the Grant Park Chorus, and The Crossing. He also sings regularly as a choir member and cantor at St. Alphonsus Church in Lakeview, as well as at many other churches in and around Chicago. He has taught several styles of music lessons and classes since graduating, from play-based group classes for infants, to one-on-one vocal theater lessons for high schoolers. Russell strongly believes in the importance of learning to read music, particularly at a young age. Even more important, however, is ensuring that making music is always a joyful and expressive experience. When not performing or teaching, Russell loves seeing a great movie at the theater, going running with his dog Chester, and practicing yoga by Lake Michigan.
