About

Katie is a recent graduate of the University of Denver where she received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance. At Lamont, she taught voice to non-music majors and was an assistant teacher of opera. Katie began teaching voice after studying and assistant teaching voice pedagogy courses while receiving her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the State University of New York at Fredonia. She quickly developed the teaching philosophy that progress starts with the student-teacher relationship.
"Singing can be incredibly vulnerable, and a student must feel full support and comfort from the teacher to build confidence and trust."
As a classically trained singer, Katie believes in technique for healthy production. After several years of teaching and research, she specializes in healthy mixing and belting techniques of musical theatre than can be applied to all genres of singing. Katie is a teacher of all ages, all levels, and all styles.
Along with voice, Katie also teaches beginner piano.
