About

The classical pianist Frederick (Muyu) Zou started his formal musical training at the age of 14 in China. He earned his Bachelor of Music in Piano Pedagogy at Central Philippine Adventist College at the age of 21 and earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from Andrews University. During his college study, he played in the school orchestra as a cellist. While at Andrews University, he served as a student piano teacher in the music department, where he offered piano lessons to college students who were enrolled in Piano Proficiency and Applied Music in those non-music-degree courses. He enjoyed collaborating with different music people as an instrumental accompanist. He also served as a church pianist and choir accompanist in different churches in China, the Philippines, and Michigan (US). He developed his leadership skills by serving as the president of the Chinese Christian Fellowship in AU.

As a pianist, he is passionate about performance. As a piano teacher, he is excited to develop and learn more teaching techniques and skills for all ages of students. He always guides students to find joy in the music and encourages students to be more creative and spontaneous, and learn how to use music to touch people’s heart.
