About

Owen Olson grew up in the small town of Hudson, Wisconsin before moving to Boston for college. In Hudson he had a rich musical upbringing, including both classical and jazz piano, singing both in choir and musical theatre, bass guitar, and composing. In 2023, Owen premiered his new musical entitled Lucette! at the University of Wisconsin River Falls. He composed all of the music, taught the music to the actors, and played piano in the pit orchestra. The musical is next going to be performed in Scotland at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2024. Additionally, he has competed in and won Minnesota piano competitions, organized and gigged with small jazz ensembles, and currently plays in a vulfpeck cover band. Beyond piano, Owen teaches songwriting & composition, singing, and electric bass. He believes that the best way to learn is to be excited about what one is learning, and therefore teaches with a focus on what the student likes to play along with fundamental techniques. He is currently pursuing a degree in music composition with a minor in musical theatre writing and teaching at the Berklee College of Music. Outside of music, he enjoys playing and umpiring baseball, running, and hanging out with his cat named Bailey.
