Playing since age 10, James found his passion for music through jazz under legendary pianist and director Tommy James from the Duke Ellington Orchestra. Since 2017, James has taught lessons for every age: primarily teaching pop, rock, funk, latin, and jazz, he is happy teaching at all levels. After graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in jazz piano, James is now receiving his Master's Degree from TSU in the summer of 2024. James made his songwriting debut last year at Parker Jazz Club with an original big band composition. His works continue to be well anticipated by the Texas State Jazz Ensemble.
