Dr. Richard G. Leonberger is an experienced and passionate voice teacher offering vocal instruction with Traveling Music Lessons. Based in Waco, Texas, he has over ten years of teaching and twenty years of performance experience at venues across the United States, Canada, and in Central America.

Dr. Leonberger's musical journey began at Eastern Hills Middle School in Harker Heights, Texas, and continued at Midway High School in Hewitt, Texas. He further honed his skills at McLennan Community College in Waco. His diverse educational background has provided him with a solid foundation in vocal performance and pedagogy.

Currently, Dr. Leonberger is an active member of the Chancel Choir at First Methodist Waco, showcasing his vocal talents in a choral setting.

Throughout his career, Dr. Leonberger has had the privilege of working with esteemed mentors and participating in master classes. Notable influences include Richard Miller of Oberlin Conservatory, as well as Lise Uhl (MCC), Dr. Scott LaGraff (SFASU), Diane Richardson (Binghamton University and The Juilliard School), opera director Chuck Hudson, Robert Grayson (Louisiana State University), Dr. Loraine Sims (Louisiana State University), Dr. Richard Berry (SFASU), Dr. Mark Diamond (Baylor University), and Glenn Beals.

Dr. Leonberger holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy, specializing in lyric diction and the linguistic components of singing. His expertise and credentials ensure a high level of instruction for his students.

Dr. Leonberger offers lessons to students of all ages and styles, focusing on building strong breathing and resonance habits, encouraging vocal exploration and play, and fostering confidence in trying new performance techniques. He strikes a balance between structured instruction and a relaxed, supportive environment.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Dr. Leonberger has a personal affinity for the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and has researched and performed musical compositions inspired by Tolkien's writings, adding a unique touch to his body of work.
