About
Alexis Monroe is from Prince George’s County, Maryland right outside of Washington, D.C.. Alexis grew up singing, dancing, acting, playing the piano and performing. When Alexis was in the 5th grade she joined the school band where she played the saxophone. From there she went to middle school and sang in the school chorus where she learned to sing and dance. Alexis learned she had a gift and continued to discover it throughout high school and eventually went on to college where she studied Art Management and focused on Music at Bennett College in North Carolina. She studied music history, sight singing and diction, music theory, and took on voice as a primary instrument and piano as a secondary instrument.
In 2018, when Alexis graduated Bennett, she went onto teach in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia area. In 2019 she landed a job as the General Music teacher at Cooper Lane and Columbia Park Elementary Schools. As a split teacher she has over 500 students to teach, develop and help showcase their talents. Her class sizes ranged from 20 to 34 students as overcrowding is a major issue in pubic title 1 schools in Maryland. By the end of her first year she had resurrected the school chorus at Cooper Lane, help a student win 3rd place in the science fair (the student recreated a science of sound project they conducted in class), and was promoted to the full time Music teacher at Cooper Lane Elementary. Ms. Monroe now formally known by her students taught chorus to grades Pre-K to 6th grade. Ms. Monroe believes that all students have the ability to create music and all students have the ability to grow in any craft as long as they have support and motivation. She believes that routine and structure sets her students up for future success.
Ms. Monroe is currently working on her music, acting background, and auditioning for modeling and other roles. She is practicing her many skills and striving to be the artist that she always aspired to be.
