Joseph first picked up the guitar at just 5 years old and instantly found a new best friend. Practicing and repeating the shapes and sounds that felt right, he would spend 8 years developing this talent without the assistance of a teacher. Joseph reflects on this today with a unique perspective: “I thought I had things under control! I felt like what I was playing sounded good and taking classes would be entirely unnecessary. Why read music when I can already play I thought to myself. Then my mom stepped in and put me in guitar, piano and vocal classes which I would continue until I went to college in 2002. After working with a qualified instructor and studying musical theory for 4 years in college, I discovered that my talent and ear for music was only a small fraction of what I would go on to develop with the help of a teacher. This perspective is what lead me to perfect the ability to meet students wherever they are in their journey and sharpen their musical prowess to the sharpest possible edge imaginable. I can guarantee no matter what personal attributes exist in my students, their musical ability and understanding will be intensely magnified from day 1 and they will discover that music IS for them.”
