Ian Quimba is originally from the Philippines and migrated to the United States at a young age and currently residing in Plain City, a Columbus Ohio suburb. He started formal piano lessons at the age of seven and ever since, has always been passionate and actively involve with music and piano. He was the main accompanist at the churches he attended to, played the piano and keyboards in school musicals, church cantatas and assisted music directors in teaching choir their voice parts. He is currently the main accompanist of his church. He started teaching piano while attending college. As a teacher, besides teaching music theory, sight reading, accompaniment styles and improvisation, his main goal is to assist students discover the meaning and message of any piece of music, regardless of the genres. From classical pieces by Bach, Beethoven or Chopin, to popular songs by Adele, Imagine Dragons, or Lady Gaga, he tries to show what the author is trying to communicate, and teach them how to effectively interpret it just by playing an instrument. His reward is seeing his students develop the passion and love of music. He has a one year old son and he can’t wait until he’s old enough so he can share his love of music to him as well.
