About

Ian Quimba began piano lessons at age seven and has been immersed in music ever since. He has served as a church accompanist, played in school musicals and cantatas, and supported choirs as a rehearsal pianist. Ian started teaching piano in college and has been teaching for over 20 years without pause. He focuses on helping students understand both the technical and emotional elements of music, encouraging them to interpret each piece with meaning and expression—regardless of genre, whether classical, pop, or otherwise.

As a piano teacher, Ian’s goal is to help students develop strong technical foundations while nurturing their musical expression and confidence. He believes that disciplined practice, mindful technique, and artistic interpretation are key to becoming a well-rounded pianist.

He is currently pursuing certification with the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Ian lives in Columbus, Ohio, and in his spare time enjoys traveling and discovering new places with his wife and young son; attending orchestral performances, Broadway musicals, and live concerts across the United States; and watching piano recitals by world-renowned concert pianists. One of his greatest musical inspirations is the Cleveland Orchestra—widely considered one of the finest orchestras in the world—which he feels fortunate to live so close to.
