About
Jackson Bailey holds a B.A. in Music Performance - Instrumental from Northern Arizona University and is an accomplished musician and educator with over 13 years of experience teaching private lessons. For the past three years, he has served as an orchestra director in the Laveen School District. As a performer, Jackson has played both chamber and symphonic music across the United States and Canada, participating in numerous workshops and masterclasses with some of the world’s most renowned musicians.
A lifelong passion for classical music has driven Jackson to perform at a professional level while continuing to study violin and viola pedagogy. He draws upon a rich blend of teaching methods, including the Suzuki approach and the techniques of 20th-century pedagogues, in his own teaching. His goal is to inspire students and help them develop their musical potential.
Mentors:
Jackson's mentors include Andrea Jameson, Dennis Bourret, and Jacquelin Schwandt. He has studied with prominent figures such as Tien-Hsin Cindy Wu, Schmuel Ashkenasi, Masumi Per Rostad, and Katharina Kang, among others.
Experience:
One of Jackson’s most significant contributions to teaching has been his work with Tucson Junior Strings, a non-profit organization in Tucson. During his time there, he rose through the ranks from student to teacher, where he gained invaluable teaching experience under the baton of Dennis Bourret. His work with the organization has been a cornerstone of his educational career, shaping his approach to pedagogy and mentoring young musicians.
In addition to his involvement with Tucson Junior Strings, Jackson has served as principal violist for numerous chamber and symphonic orchestras and as a substitute conductor for the Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestra. Jackson has mentored hundreds of students and continues to seek out new learners who share his passion for music education.
