As a guitarist and songwriter based in Austin, Ethan Ames has over 15 years of experience playing in indie rock/pop bands in both live and professional studio settings. Originally from the greater New York City area, Ethan has taught guitar, performance and songwriting for 5 years, including running a music program at a summer camp and teaching private lessons to students of all ages.

A self-taught musician, Ethan Ames has mastered the crafts of lead/rhythm guitar (electric and acoustic), songwriting, music production and performance across multiple genres, including rock, pop, blues, jazz and folk. Some of his biggest musical influences include The Beatles, Radiohead, Elliott Smith, Paul Simon, Jimi Hendrix, Mitski, and Alex G., to name a select few. Ethan continues to write, record and perform music in Austin, both as a solo artist and as co-bandleader in Tish, an indie-rock/pop four-piece.

As an instructor, Ethan is an empathic communicator, having worked with students of diverse skill levels. He takes the time to understand students' preferred genres, styles and goals upfront, helping to distill their goals into individualized, well-structured lesson plans. Ethan's adept at guiding students toward milestones at a realistic pace, establishing regular check-ins to collaboratively assess progress and make sure students feel they're on the right track.
