Robert Leyvas, a native to Arizona, has a rich background in music and behavioral health. Robert began their musical journey in middle school, exploring percussion and developing a passion for rhythm and performance. Self taught until formal music education along with the experiences of competitive performing arts, such as WGAZ and WGI. With over ten years teaching, he marched all over the valley as a percussion consultant which ultimately laid the groundwork for a lifelong commitment to music.

Currently, Robert focuses on teaching, composing, producing original works and mentoring the next generation of musicians. While they are not actively performing with ensembles, they continue to stay involved in the music community through education and private instruction.

Robert has had the privilege of studying with renowned instructors and participating in master classes that have shaped their approach to music and teaching. Their experience includes time with the ASU Marching Band and other influential ensembles, as well as self-guided learning that has enriched their skills and versatility.

Robert holds an Associate’s in arts and is a graduate practical nurse with many years experience in the field of psychiatric medicine. Robert is in pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at Arizona State University. These academic achievements reflect their commitment to both music and personal development.

With over a decade of teaching experience, Robert has worked with students of all ages and skill levels. They specialize in percussion instruction, including drum set, mallet percussion, and piano. Their teaching style blends structure with an approachable, fun atmosphere, ensuring students build strong fundamentals while enjoying their musical journey. Robert believes in celebrating the unique potential of every student. Guided by Albert Einstein’s idea that everyone has a special genius, they emphasize individual growth and tailored instruction to their individual needs. By nurturing each student’s strengths, Robert fosters an inspiring and supportive learning environment.

Outside of music, Robert is passionate about composing music, electronics, neuroscience and health, reflecting a deep curiosity about how people learn and grow. This dual interest in music and science informs their teaching approach, creating an engaging and holistic educational experience.
