Rumi Inoue (Flutist)
Sumi Inoue is a Los Angeles-based performer, composer and recording artist specializing in Jazz, Afro-Latin and Brazilian music on flute. She regularly performs these genres and her own original music and has toured extensively throughout California. Rumi holds a Master of Music degree in Afro-Latin Music Performance. She was featured in concert and clinic at the 2015 Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. I was the winner of the National Flute Association's 39th Annual NFA Convention Jazz Flute Master Class Competition in 2011.
Rumi’s international performing and recording career has included multiple tours and radio broadcast performances throughout Japan, including an hour-long special feature interview on her solo album “Rumi & Zabumba Rumba” on Tokyo FM. In 2020, she was featured on NHK’s "Motto Shikoku Ongakusai 2020" TV broadcast, for which she arranged and recorded all flutes for a special televised performance of "Matsuri" sung by Japanese star singer Hiroshi Miyama. Additionally, Rumi performs annually in Vienna, Austria where she studied classical flute and graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
