About

William Green was born in Khabarovsk, Russia, and adopted into an American family. He began piano lessons at 7 and fell in love instantly with music. He won numerous awards with the North Carolina Federation of Music, including top marks in all categories for the piano competitions at the most advanced level. His piano playing has been seen across North Carolina, with performances in all the major cities. In addition to performing, William enjoys composing. He has had music played by the Appalachian State University Wind Ensemble, the Institution from which he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy.

William attended Appalachian State University on Scholarship for Piano Performance. He received a Scholarship to the North Carolina School of the Arts - a top Institution for musical training - in which he received mentorship from Christopher James Lees, Maestro of the Orchestra, in Orchestral Conducting. William is now seeking to obtain a Master’s degree in Music Composition and Orchestral Conducting.

After having taught piano lessons privately for over 4 years, he has seen tremendous growth in his students. From beginner to advanced, he seeks to understand each person he teaches through interactive learning and proactive discipline on the instrument. He believes music to be a fun, exciting, and rewarding pursuit, full of potential and opportunities to become a fully developed person. William takes an holistic approach to piano pedagogy, by informing not only the mind, but also the heart.
