About

Jared Whiston is a dedicated music education major specializing in choral and vocal studies at California State University, Long Beach, under the mentorship of Dr. Steven Kronauer. He previously studied with Professor Aram Barsamian and Dr. Tyler Alessi at Fullerton College. Since starting his musical theater career in 2012, Jared has performed a variety of roles, including Charlie Brown in You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, Hot Blades Harry in Urinetown, and Emmett in Legally Blonde. In 2020, he made his operatic debut as Felice in Il Cappello di Paglia di Firenze and has participated in multiple opera scenes, including as Prince Charmant in Cendrillon and Dancaïro in Carmen.

Jared has earned numerous awards, including first place in the Fullerton College Classical Vocal Competition (2021), the Katherine Rundus Award, and first place in the NATS Los Angeles Collegiate Auditions (Freshmen TBB division). He has also performed professionally with the Lil’ Dickens Carolers and sung at prestigious events with stars such as Orlando Bloom and Dustin Hoffman. Additionally, he performed as a tenor with the LA Phil at the Hollywood Bowl under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel. Jared is also a tenor sub at multiple churches has won masterclasses through NATS with renowned soprano Barbara Bonney and tenor George Shirley.

Jared currently sings in the Bob Cole Chamber Choir at California State University Long Beach, where he will be traveling to Wales in the Summer to compete for Choir of the World . After completing his undergraduate degree, he plans to pursue a master’s degree in choral conducting.
