He is from the upstate of South Carolina, having earned his Bachelor’s degree in History with concentrations in commercial music and AA studies from the University of South Carolina Upstate. During his time in school, he has enjoyed teaching students of all ages and skill levels in voice and guitar. Geordon started singing in church in elementary school and in his school choir since he was a boy. Continuing his education into junior high into high school, Geordon started taking guitar lessons and writing his own songs. He persisted singing in his school chorus, having participated in the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA) in every academic year, culminating in his singing in the ACDA Honor’s Choir. Geordon discovered that this consistent immersion into theory and solfege instilled a heavy base of technique and knowledge from which to draw and be able to teach students about music. He also learned during this time the about importance of a great instructor in regards to a student’s internal fire and desire to learn. Into college, Geordon continued in USC Upstate’s University Singers while also teaching guitar and vocal lessons and fronting bands. Having such a wealth of experience with classical, faith and contemporary music, Geordon understands the value of a well-rounded musical education balanced with the theory necessary to be a competent & discerning musician, and real world skills that one would need to pursue music as a profession. Most of all, he believes in the importance of making musical education what he feels it needs to be at it’s core…fun!
