About

Kelly Kai Li Yong is a Malaysian pianist and educator who recently earned her Master of Music in Piano Performance from Texas State University under Dr. Jason Kwak. During her time there, she held a Graduate Instructional Assistantship and was awarded a Graduate Merit Fellowship, a Keyboard Scholarship, and the Brunner/Whalin Scholarship Endowment for excellence in piano accompaniment.

Kelly has performed extensively as a soloist and collaborative pianist in both Malaysia and the USA, including chamber recitals, duets, and music showcases. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Malaya and earned Associate and Licentiate performance diplomas with distinction from Trinity College London in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

Passionate about teaching, Kelly has led workshops, worked with a wide range of vocalists and instrumentalists, and served as president, conductor, and pianist of the SMK Chung Hua Miri choir. Under her leadership, the choir earned multiple championships between 2014 and 2018, and she received the Best Conductor Award at the 2017 Miri Inter-School Patriotic Song Choir Competition.
