About

Rachel Stone was born in Los Angeles and moved to Arvada in 2011 with her husband. She started taking piano lessons when she was 8 years old and switched to the flute when she was 10 years old, and she fell in love with it. Rachel knew she wanted to be a music teacher since she was in seventh grade and she has followed her dream. She started playing the clarinet seriously in college, sitting in chamber music ensembles and taking lessons. Rachel received her Bachelors of Music in Music Education and her K-12 Music Teaching License from the University of Redlands in California in 2005. She was an elementary school general music, band, and choir teacher for nine years. She has been a private music teacher full time since 2017. She loves teaching privately and helping students on their musical journey. She also teaches after school keyboard classes a few days a week at some local schools. Lessons with Rachel are fun and enjoyable and she bases the lessons on what the students want to learn and how they learn. She teaches using a step-by-step method, where students only learn one new skill at a time, which helps them to not have to focus on everything at once. If students already have any musical experience, she finds out what they already know and
what level they are at and then they go from there. She also uses sheet music instead of
method books. She has a very large sheet music library of songs at different levels. She has well known and popular songs, children’s songs, classical songs, and more. Also, once they reach a certain level, if there are specific songs her students want to play, she will help them find the songs online or in books and arrange the songs for them.
