About

Desiree was born and raised in Nashville, TN. She graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Tennessee in 2015 and then a Masters of Music Education from Illinois State University in 2017. Desiree taught orchestra in public schools for a few years in Illinois and Tennessee, but wants to focus more on growing her private studio now. She has been teaching private violin, viola, cello, and double bass lessons at all levels for over 10 years with a special love for teaching beginners in the Suzuki style. She was a founding member of the Daraja Music Initiative string program in Moshi, Tanzania in 2015 and has spent over 6 months spread over the past few years teaching Suzuki-style and orchestral strings to students aged 4 to 21.

When not teaching, Desiree can be found knitting a sweater or two, reading young adult fantasy novels, cooking for her friends and family, or playing with her two adorable black cats named Bucket and Ladle!
