About

Millie has always had an intense love and appreciation for music since she was a child. Her musical journey began in fourth grade when she joined choir and has been singing and participating in musical ensembles since. She has also taken years of piano lessons and has picked up various instruments such as guitar, ukulele, bass, and even dabbled in banjo!

In high school, Millie was involved in just about every choral ensemble she could be in, ranging from Mixed Choirs to Madrigals to Vocal Jazz. Her love and enthusiasm for singing and her support for her fellow ensemble members gained her the title “Most Outstanding Choir Student” in her senior class at Plainfield North High School.

Millie’s musical journey continued when she went to Illinois State University to study Music Education, with certifications to teach K-12 students in band, choir, and orchestra. While at Illinois State, she participated in multiple Registered Student Organizations where she held various leadership positions such as Music Director of the award winning treble a cappella group Secondary Dominance, Co-President of the student chapter of American Choral Directors Association, and Programs Chair for female-identifying music fraternity Sigma Alpha Iota. She also was a member of many different choral ensembles, including ISU’s top vocal ensemble Madrigal Singers. Also while at Illinois State, Millie taught private lessons at Thomas Metcalf Elementary School’s Music Academy where she worked with students ages K-5 and taught piano, guitar, ukulele, and voice.

Post-graduation, Millie has continued her journey in music education as the K-8 General Music, Band, and Choir teacher at Taft Grade School in Lockport, Illinois. She also continued her private lesson teaching journey at School of Rock in Plainfield as well as Allegro Music and Dance Academy, also in Lockport, where she taught both piano and voice.

Millie continues to spread the love of music to her students and greatly enjoys working with them to truly help them blossom as musicians and help them find a love and passion for making music. She can’t wait to be a member of the Traveling Music Lessons team and help students find their love of music!
