Steve Kehrer was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was exposed to extensive training in both vocal and instrumental music. Although involved with various bands and orchestras in elementary school through high school playing trumpet, the musical passion which he has continued to pursue throughout adulthood is singing. Steve developed an interest in cultivating his vocal abilities at an early age, participating in numerous school choirs, select ensembles, and competitions, as well as performing with lead roles in school musicals, from his grade school years through college. Growing up attending church every Sunday, Steve remembers learning to sing the various parts from the church hymnal, singing each of the four parts one at a time, verse by verse.

Steve received BA and MA degrees from Cincinnati Christian University. For many years, he has been involved in the musical aspects of church life, conducting choirs and congregational singing, training youth and adults as singers, and leading rehearsals for praise teams, ensembles, and soloists.

Steve has a unique ability to instruct a student in singing parts and learning how to harmonize and blend well with others. He strives to "bring out the best" in his students by helping them develop their skills in voice placement, breath support, maintaining proper pitches, projection, stage presence, and performance, but in a fun, motivating, and encouraging manner. Steve understands vocal performance well, having sung professionally for many years (and continuing to do so) as the baritone singer for a nationally-known quartet which has traveled throughout the U. S. Also, as a part-time Hospice Chaplain, he often uses a cappella singing of hymns to his patients as a comforting spiritual intervention.

Steve and his wife are parents to three adult children who are all accomplished singers. They are also grandparents to ten grandchildren, providing encouragement to them as they pursue their own unique musical abilities. That is the ultimate goal Steve has for each of his students - to help them discover their own special, God-given, musical strengths and individual "style" of singing, resulting in a lifetime of personal fulfillment, as well as being a blessing to others.
