Plays Bass, Drums, Guitar, and Piano

About

Coming to us from Chicago, Mike Davis brings two decades of experience to his bass, guitar, piano and drum students. Being a lifelong drummer allowed him to more easily transition to other rock instruments. Mike is most notably the drummer/keyboardist for Chess at Breakfast, where he produced, mixed, and mastered 3 albums, 3 singles, and performed over 70 live shows. In addition to producing his own work, he has also served other artists and bands as a producer, sound engineer, co-writer, composer-arranger, mixing-mastering engineer, and session musician (drums, guitar, bass, keys, vocals) in a home studio setting. Mike's influences range from The Beatles and Led Zepplin to contemporary indie rock.

Mike writes, records, mixes and plays his own music, experimenting with different instruments, microphones and effects. This approach has given him a unique vantage point to music as a whole. Lessons with Mike will focus on learning songs/techniques, figuring out an optimal practice routine and smarter ways to practice, and music industry and production. Mike will help you understand what it takes to be a successful, local rock musician. Alongside working in the local music scene, Mike has written, produced and released a range of solo electronic music and multiple short film scores. Additionally, Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Rangeland Ecology from Colorado State University. He is currently the Director of Media Production at The Echo, a freelance musician, composer, producer and educator. He maintains a studio of highly talented and engaged students, and he can't wait to help you achieve your musical goals.
