Michael Gutierrez is a jazz educator and performer invested in his community and in innovative pedagogical outreach. Originally from Dallas, he is a proud member of the Comanche and Cheyenne-Arapaho Nations.

Michael has experience as an adjudicator and clinician, as well as almost twenty years of live performance experience. He is currently a freelance musician and lesson teacher in the Phoenix area.

He holds degrees from Richland College, Fort Lewis College, and a Master of Music in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado Boulder. He has been privileged to study with Ron Jones, Jeff Solon, Mark Walters, John O’Neal, John Gunter, and Brad Goode.
