About

Lorenzo Celis is from Phoenix Arizona and started learning how to play the guitar 10 years ago in a high school guitar class. Since then, he has studied with a private instructor for some years helping him to gain the skills that he currently has which helped him attend Berklee College of Music studying Guitar Performance. He currently gigs regularly throughout the valley both in a jazz influenced alternative band and as a hired gun. Lorenzo has worked with Doug Mann(private guitar instructor) for 2 years now and has gone through the William Leavitt method, a very in depth method to guitar. Lorenzo has been teaching for 1 year now and can teach a variety of styles ranging from jazz, blues, rock, metal, r&b, and country. He loves teaching people of all ages from children to adults. He believes it is crucial to cater each teaching experience to each individual. Some students thrive with a very rigorous environment and some need a fun learning environment. He applies music theory and music notation in his lessons and encourages students to not only know how something works musically but why does it works as well. Lorenzo has gone through many different stages of the guitar, both playing it as a fun hobby and seriously studying the minutiae of everything that goes into playing the instrument so he understands the perspective of being a student and has plenty of patience. He loves the guitar and ultimately wants to share that with others.
