Mateo Sagovia began learning violin at 7 years old, and he continued through school orchestra into Booker T Washington HSPVA for violin in the orchestral and symphonic programs under the tutelage of DSO violinist Sho-Mei Pelletier. Two years after he started learning violin, he began studying guitar with Mac Price Junior (with the Dixie Chicks) and later went on to study with Mario DaSliva and John Pell. Mateo has played in various groups, from contemporary to jazz to gigging frequently with the group Cinema For The Blind. Additionally, he participated in a Jazz Singers ensemble, which would perform often. Mateo is working on a degree in commercial music with an emphasis on guitar performance at Belmont University in Nashville.
