About

A native of Cincinnati, Christopher Schaljo brings his talent and pedagogy to Traveling Music Lesson after 25plus years of teaching and performing in New York City, Cincinnati, across the U.S. and Europe. Christopher is a graduate of SCPA and a member of Richard Miller’s studio while at Oberlin Conservatory. There he obtained his B.M. and M.M.

Christopher is also an accomplished pianist. He began playing professionally at age 12 and has continued as a pianist, organist, and musical director at regional broadway productions, off-broadway productions, churches, ballet lessons, broadway auditions, voice lessons, clubs, cruise lines, and many more venues. He has performed with his trio as a jazz band leader playing for a vast clientele, including staff members of various presidential administrations. He has traveled to over 25 countries as a pianist/singer.

Christopher is the principal accompanist with Cincinnati Men’s Choir and Organist at St. John The Evangelist.

Christopher is also a professional singer and actor. Christopher began this career at age seven and has credits in over 175 theatrical productions as an actor, singer, dancer, pianist, music director, and stage director. Some of the roles he’s performed include: Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd, El Gallo in The Fantastiks!, Belcore in L’Elisir d’Amore, The Count in La Nozze di Figaro, Marcello in La Boheme, Daddy Warbucks in Annie, George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life, Fagin in Oliver. Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha, to name a few.

Teaching has always been a part of Christopher’s ongoing musical career. Whether teaching voice, piano, theory, or acting, Christopher is happy to give his time to dedicated students.
