Dylan Friel has humble beginnings in the small town of New Ulm, MN. This is where he first began his musical journey. Entirely self-taught and motivated from the start, an early interest in jazz and rock had drawn him into the world of music. Beginning in jazz classes, combos, and high school rock bands, these experiences solidified his musical spark. Dylan continued his pursuit of music to Perpich Center for the Arts Education, learning bass guitar and guitar under Mr. James Allen and Mr. Kevin Holstein. Following this, Friel continued to UST in pursuit of a musical degree, but, it was short-lived due to COVID-19 in 2020. Today, he is an active songwriter for his own musical project as well as a frequent collaborator with local Minneapolis musicians. Living in Bryn Mawr, Minneapolis with his partner, Lars, a visual artist and craftsperson, and roommate, Adam, an active guitar student, Dylan is in the big city with big aspirations! Through and through, Friel believes music is supposed to be fun and fulfilling, especially for beginners!
