Matthew Koller was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he first began his musical journey. Matthew began playing drums at age three with the assistance of his older brother. He played in several bands in Milwaukee and toured the United States with his band ebb-n-flow. Matthew has continued his musical endeavors with stops in Illinois, Ohio, California and now Phoenix, Arizona. Matthew has also been employed as an accompanist at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, the Milwaukee Ballet and currently Arizona State University. During his career, he has performed in master classes for Bill T. Jones and the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. While he is new to teaching drums, Matthew has experience coaching youth soccer and teaching karate as well as professional experience working with youth with behavioral issues. Matthew employs a laid back and fun approach to teaching music and wants to bring the “inner musician” out of everyone he works with. Matthew’s educational background consists of degrees in Criminal Justice and Business management. In his free time, Matthew enjoys running, swimming and writing music playing a variety of instruments. Additionally, he assists his wife rescuing and fostering cats and kittens.
