About

A lover of all sorts of music. Ryan attended Humboldt State (before it became Cal Poly Humboldt) and before graduating as a Music Major in 2021, participated in a wide assortment of ensembles in their music program including choir, guitar ensemble, jazz band, jazz combos, jazz orchestra, opera, orchestra, piano recitals, and vocal recitals. Ryan takes heavy inspiration from his piano professor Daniela Mineva who hails from Bulgaria. Mineva attended Northwestern University and Eastman before becoming a world renowned piano performer. Ryan would describe Mineva's teaching philosophy as "Accelerated without becoming overwhelming. Mineva sees that students can learn quickly if motivated properly and yet she also understands when too much is too much. She strikes a balance that I find incredible." Ryan applies his own philosophy as well. He makes sure to check in on how his students are feeling as he finds it important to the process. He's adaptable, never wanting to force anything as he finds it to often be counter-productive. Above all, Ryan understands that no two students are the same and does his best to nurture individuality when instructing. When not teaching Ryan enjoys guitar effect pedals and foreign films as well as being an avid lover of cats.
