About
A native of New Orleans, JosephJr. knew his love were playing the drums at the tender age of 2 years old. Just like every kid drummer, the kitchen’s pots and pans was where you’d hear rhythm, as opposed to the savory scent of red beans and rice. Joseph started his musical journey young playing in church and local events with his father, who’s also a musician. His father instilled in him on how to have disciplined practice, study the craft, and to always remain humble. Being self-taught. While in high school, Joseph was a member of O. Perry Walker Senior High School Marching Band, under the direction of Wilbert Rawlins Jr., where he served as the snare drum section leader and a founding member of the O. Perry Walker Chosen One Brass Band who performed in Japan with Japan musician, Yoshio Toyama. He attended summer jazz camps at Newman School under the direction of jazz legend, Donald Harrison. Joseph received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music at Southern University in Baton Rouge in 2018. While there, he was a member of world renowned marching band, (affectionately known as the Human Jukebox). While studying under the guidance of his professors at Southern, and his dedication and persistence earned him head percussionist in the jazz ensemble. Expanding his knowledge with music, he began taking on music production. Which brought him to music producing for local artists around Louisiana. Guidance from some of the best in the game, Stellar Award Winning Producer, Sean Keys and Grammy Award Recording Engineer, Reginald “ReggieNic” Nicolson, Joseph’s love for music production grew in such time. Joseph was also granted many larger scale musical opportunities such as sharing the stage with famous R & B recording artists, Fantasia and Monica, legendaries Babyface and Patti Labelle. His biggest highlight was recording a hit song with Grammy Award winning PJ Morton in March of 2021. Determined to maximize his musical journey and increase his skill set, Joseph continues his mentorship from his father, university professors, and skilled musicians around the world while playing the heartbeat of music.
