Joe Benz is a multi-genre guitar player and instructor who has been involved in the SoCal music scene for over 20 years. Focusing in music theory, song composition, and improvising, Joe teaches his students to read and think dynamically about music. As a youngster, he cut his teeth in top tier high school and SCSBOA jazz bands, as well as playing and competing in the festivals. His professional experience includes the Fullerton College Jazz Ensemble and being a working musician. He enjoys all types of music, but is fond of metal, jazz, blues, rock, and folk. His hobbies include art (drawings, paintings, sculpture), writing poems, movies, and cooking. He lives with his lovely wife Elise and dog Ziggy.
